One of the largest distributors of frozen desserts seeks a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting Line Leader and Machine Operator or Vitaline Operator in manufacturing ice cream products by packaging products into cartons, boxes, sleeves, overwrap, etc. to meet production, hardening, shipping, sales and consumer requirements for each product.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. Become familiar with different types of packaging used and assigned to all lines and become proficient at the methods of packaging products in these packages.
2. Assist machine operator to produce each of these products in conformance to all requirements (involving sanitation, appearance, cleanliness, correctness of packaging supplies and salability of product).
3. Handle each product in a sanitary manner when packaging into cartons to prevent contamination or foreign matter from entering finished product.
4. Ensure that 100% of each product packaged is a saleable product that has “0” defects in product appearance, cleanliness, and overall package condition prior to sending into Hardening Room.
5. Ensure each product packed is packaged in appropriate containers and the proper amount of product is in each container.
6. Immediately alert operator of any problems that arise during the packaging process to prevent any unnecessary loss of product or waste of ingredients.
7. Assist operator in keeping work area neat and clean.
8. Assist in marking and sealing of partial cases of supplies and ingredients after each production run.
9. Assist Operator/Line Leader in start-up, changeover, and shutdown processes.
10. Work scheduled shift daily (see Line Leader for schedule).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must possess a H.S. diploma or GED.
2. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, stoop down, and climb occasionally under equipment.
3. Must be physically able to stand upright for an 12 hour shift.
4. Must be able to stoop over, pick up packages of sleeves weighing 15 - 20 lbs., move those across a room and under a table, then move those sleeves up to the table 600 - 1200 times per day.
5. Must be able to occasionally lift containers weighing up to 50 lbs.
6. Must have good vision and hearing (natural or corrected) and be able to understand and communicate the English language.
7. Must have excellent coordination and hand dexterity (both left and right).
